Continuous Publication

AL-MAQASID: The International Journal of Maqasid Studies and Advanced Islamic Research has adopted a continuous publication model by volume beginning with Volume 5.

What is different?

Rather than publishing content in two issues per year, all accepted papers are published within a single annual volume (January–December). This volume is progressively completed throughout the year as each new article is finalized and released.

There is no “advance online” or “early view” stage where articles await formal issue assignment. Once an article has completed the editorial and production process, it is published immediately in the current volume. Within the volume’s table of contents, papers are systematically organized according to manuscript categories—such as Research Articles, Review Articles, and Book Reviews—to facilitate ease of navigation.

What are the benefits?

Under this continuous publication model, AL-MAQASID articles are available in a single, definitive version, hosted in one location, and cited in a uniform manner. This approach simplifies content discovery, access, and scholarly use.

For authors, articles are published directly into the active volume without any delay associated with advance publication queues. Complete and final citation details are provided immediately upon publication.

How will I know when new content is published?

Readers are encouraged to register for an AL-MAQASID journal account  and subscribe to new content alerts. These alerts will notify subscribers by email whenever new articles are published in the current volume.

How should I cite AL-MAQASID content?

From Volume 5 onwards, AL-MAQASID articles are paginated in the usual manner within the annual volume, with page numbers running consecutively from the beginning to the end of the volume. While online navigation does not primarily rely on page numbers, pagination is retained to enable accurate pinpoint referencing of specific arguments or discussions within an article.

Accordingly, when citing articles published under this model, authors should include the relevant page number or page range as customary, particularly when providing precise references to specific sections of an article.

Citation tools are available on the article webpage, allowing users to generate and download citations in multiple formats according to academic and disciplinary requirements.
